I’m a proud Mi’gmaq woman born and raised here in this beautiful community.  I’ve been living in community with my family which consists of my husband and four boys.  My background is in community economic development.  I’ve had 19 years of experience working with indigenous communities and 2 years on council.  I am honoured to be elected as Chief in June 2019 and have the pleasure of working a team of 7 strong council members. Together our team approach is to provide accountability and transparency to the people of Ugpi’ganjig. Our focus is to build the capacity of our people and implement nation-building within our community.

Ugpi’ganjig is situated on the northeastern coast of New Brunswick on unceded traditional Migma’gi territory.  We are blessed with scenic views of one of the most beautiful bays in the world and the longest natural sand bar links us to our neighbouring communities.

We believe that collaborating with our surrounding municipalities is nation-building for the greater good of our region.  We maintain good relationships with our fellow First Nations, provincial and federal partners are we strive to incorporate the 7 teachings in our everyday lives as we cohabitate Mi’gmagi.

We value culture and try to promote language as they are pillars of strength and resilience of our people.
