Dear Ugpi’ganjig community members;
Good afternoon, I hope you are all doing well and keeping yourselves busy and entertained from HOME. We realize that for some this may not be as easy and quite a challenge.
In addition to services provided by our health centre, Eskasoni First Nation has graciously offered their “Hope for Wellness” mental health line for anyone feeling anxious or struggling with their mental health during this time. They have Mi’gmaq speakers and provide culturally sensitive counselling for those in need, they can be reached at 1-855-379-2099.
Today we have been busy distributing grocery cards to those members on reserve that would not have received one with the first distribution list. Please keep in mind and respect that these cards are not meant as gifts, but rather used for your important essential items needed to support your self-isolation. For those members off reserve within a 25km radius we will advise when and where cards can be obtained as we get them. Again, for your reference here are things you should have:
Food: dried pasta, pasta sauces, canned foods, canned fruit and vegetables, pet food Hygiene: toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, diapers, facial tissue, soap, alcohol based hand sanitizer
Health care: thermometer, fever-reducing medications
Cleaning: paper towels, plastic garbage bags, dish soap, laundry detergent, household bleach, household cleaning products
We will continue to monitor the pandemic, at this point we continue to operate at status quo; however, this is subject to changes as needed, in order to best protect the health of our community. It’s up to us to keep doing what we’re doing…by STAYING HOME, WASHING OUR HANDS FREQUENTLY, and SOCIAL DISTANCING.
Your leadership, administration staff, and health centre continue to work hard to keep our health and safety of the highest priority.
Thank you for your cooperation and collaboration,
