Message from Chief to community members.

March 18th, 2020
Weli’eksitpug Ugpi’ganjig community members;

I just wanted to reassure you all again that Chief and Council, and staff are still keeping up with updates on the COVID 19. Our essential staff members and council are diligently working behind the scenes to provide as much support as possible. In addition to keeping the essential services going, we are working on funding proposals, reviewing and updating pandemic plan implementation, and making sure emergency response measures are in place, SHOULD further preventative measures be needed.

By today our most vulnerable population will be receiving grocery cards to assist with supplies and additional grocery items to support staying at home. As this rolls out we know everyone needs assistance and will look at the remaining population on a needs based priority. We are also trying to organize care packages with essential items that may be needed to support selfisolation beyond a 14 day period. Should we be in self isolation beyond the 14 day period we will re-assess and continue to support to our best ability.

The most important thing right now is to prevent coming into contact and spreading this virus which is why we all have to self-isolate. Luckily we still don’t have any confirmed cases of COVID 19 in the region or our community, let’s stay proactive and please practise preventative measures.

Chief Sacha
