Dear Community Members and Staff;

On March 16i\ 2020 the Chief and Council and Senior Staff Members decided to close all band operations until April 1st, 2020 in response to limiting the transmission of COVID-19. This directive will continue to be in effect for an additional (14) days, with an anticipated return to work day of April 15th, 2020. Should we continue to be in a state of emergency leading up to April 14th, 2020 the situation will be reassessed which may result in further closures. These measures are in place to assure all community members and staffs safety and wellbeing.

Child & Family Services will continue to be closed. Essential Child Protection Services will be available by contacting our on-call services at 987-9911. I encourage everyone to continue to practice social distancing and limit unnecessary contact with others to avoid the risk of contamination of this virus. These are unprecedented times and we need to be vigilant in respecting these safety measures. These measures will create undue stress within families. We encourage anyone to contact us with respect to any concerns they may have.

Bonnie Martin and I will be at the office on March 31 st, 2020 and April 7th, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. to accept, process and distribute regular payments.

I would also like to take this opportunity to invite children and youth of the community to come up with a logo for Child and Family Services. The logo should be a representation of what a strong Mi’gmaq family looks like. The person with the winning logo will receive a $500.00 pre­paid Visa card. Everyone that submits a logo will be entered for a chance to win a $100.00 pre­paid Visa card.
