A Message from Chief Chris
Kwe (hello) Ugpi’ganjig!
I am so grateful to all of you who voted me into office, I am honored and humbled by your trust and support! I am so grateful to my wife Miranda for her support, guidance, and love. And to my children, Shaina, Dylan, Nepisigwit, and Netawansum – I hope I do you proud!
I am grateful to the electors also for providing me with a quality hard-working team, we have already had many great discussions about very pressing issues. We do not always see eye-to-eye and I love the debate – such diversity in thought ensures good governance practices.
Our main priority has been gaining clarity on our finances. We cannot plan and develop programs without understanding without financial transparency. We are well on our way to finalizing the outstanding audits and they will be made available as soon as they are ready.
Another main priority has been community safety and developing a collaborative, comprehensive strategic plan for dealing with the rising crime and drug trade plaguing our community. We have been working with authorities and within our own staff and will be implementing direct action to remove those harmful people and their toxic way of life from our community.
Another major project is the Osprey Restaurant renovation. This has been an ongoing process and has gone beyond the expected finish date. We expected such delays, and I am happy to report we are mere weeks away from a soft opening for community members. More information to follow.
I look forward to seeing you all at the Inauguration on June 21st!
