The Eel River Atlantic Salmon Habitat Recovery Project
This project is part of a larger salmon and river drainage conservation and restoration plan. The key objective of this project is to better understand how various components of the environment are respond- ing to the Eel River Dam Removal with a particular emphasis on salmon and clams. The project typically runs from the month of June to early November and employs various members of Eel River Bar.
The key activities of this project occur on the Eel River and involve activities such as the removal of large woody obstructions, the collection of broodstock that is used for the Fish Friend Program (a Salmon aware- ness program being taught at the local elementary schools),electrofishing, redd surveying, erosion site surveying and clam surveying.
The Eel River Bar Heritage Garden Project
The Heritage Garden Project is a seasonal project which runs from the months of May to September. This project employs various community members who have a passion for the outdoors and a green thumb for garden work! Throughout the five months, the Heritage Garden team provides maintenance to the Heritage Garden facility, grooming to the numerous walking trails found within the premises of the building and provides landscape services to its exterior.
In addition, they also develop, maintain and grow the gardens that are found in the backyard of the facility. The garden houses an assortment of fruits and vegetables which are then picked, jarred and delivered to the elders of Eel River Bar
