Ugpi’ganjig selected to host members-only event for the 2025 Most Beautiful Bays in the World Congress.

Chief and Council are pleased to announce that Ugpi’ganjig has been selected as one of three communities in the Bay des Chaleur region to host this members-only event for the 2025 Most Beautiful Bays in the World Congress.

Part of this prestigious event will take place at our Aboriginal Heritage Gardens, welcoming approximately 150 invited guests, press, and organizers from around the world. The international association brings together 42 bays across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, celebrating the beauty and cultural significance of coastal communities like ours.

We are honored to showcase our community on the world stage and look forward to sharing our traditions, culture, and hospitality with our international visitors.

After two full days in Tadoussac, Quebec located on the north shore of the maritime section of the estuary of St. Lawrence River, the group will arrive in the Bay des Chaleur Region on September 24 for various activities in Campbellton, Dalhousie, and Ugpi’ganjig.

We will be hosting the guests on September 25th with a breakfast, welcome words from Chief George, a prayer, song and a presentation. Afterwards there will 3 lectures:

  • Port of Belledune-Green Energy,
  • NBCC Innov Center – Oysters
  • Presentation on the history and customs of our people

On September 26th we host the guests for lunch.  After which they will have their General Assembly to transfer power to their new president.

Throughout the morning September 25 and the afternoon of September 26 the auditorium will also feature crafters from Ugpi’ganjig, who will display and sell their work.

On September 26th we will have a mini powwow under the arbor if the weather permits, if not we will have it inside the Gardens in the center where the 8-pointed star is.
