Notice to all Post Secondary Students

On September 1st, 2026 Chief and Council held a duly convened meeting, one of the agenda items was to amend the current “Post Secondary Living Allowance”.

The purposes for these changes are to better support our members residing out of our community with the struggles of power, rent, hydro, taxes, and not have the students living away dealing with being a financial burden. We need to better support the ones studying away because they are the future of our community.

Prior to this change all students received $350.00 for full time or $175.00 for part time regardless of residency status. The changes allow Chief and Council and the Education Department to still be fiscally responsible with the allowance. Changes are never easy; this was one we brought to community 3 separate occasions through community meetings and there has been plenty of requests by past and current students leaving Eel River Bar for this amendment.

Monthly Disbursements from Own Source Revenue will go as followed:

• Full-Time Students residing Off-Reserve $500.00
• Part-Time Students residing Off-Reserve $250.00
• Full-Time Students residing On-Reserve $250.00
• Part-Time Students residing On-Reserve $125.00
