Education

The community engagement phase of the Daycare Feasibility Study will take place next week. Dable Advisory & Consulting Services will be in the community August 11–13, 2025 to meet with focus groups and engage the wider community. A main community session will be held on August 12, 2025 from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM in the Elders Room. A meal will be provided, along with prize draws. All ages and voices are welcome — your participation and advocacy will help us secure this important project. This initiative was identified as a high priority in the Community Comprehensive Plan 2024–2029.

Child & Family

As portfolio holder, I would like to extend my gratitude to the Child & Family team for the many great initiatives they have underway, and to Director Schawn Boucher for his dedication to ensuring Child & Family has its own space. His commitment is amazing, and is bringing this project to life. The grand opening date will be announced soon.

General Community Updates

Our annual Powwow will take place August 15–17, 2025, with August 15 designated as set-up day. The Elders will host breakfast on August 16 and 17 at 8:00 AM. Grand Entry will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday and 12:00 PM on Sunday.

Please note, there will be no supper this year due to the decline in salmon population. All events will take place at the Heritage Garden Building. In case of rain, events will move to the Inch Arran Ice Palace, while breakfasts will still be served at the Heritage Garden Building.
