Message from Chief Sacha regarding checkpoints

April 10, 2020

Dear Ugpi’ganjig community members;

As we are dealing with social isolation, stress levels are at a high and mental health maybe not be so great but we must remember that it’s not a reason to inflict harm or instigations of any kind. It has come to our attention that some members are causing disturbances at different checkpoints in community. I would like to stress the importance to be respectful and courteous when going by these checkpoints.

The checkpoints have been put in place for all of our safety and are necessary. Monitors are at their place of employment and are the only ones authorized to be on site. Please SLOW DOWN, and STOP until you get the clear to drive thru. It is possible, not everyone is familiar with your vehicle. And most importantly DO NOT get out of your vehicle dispose of any items from your vehicle!

There will be ZERO tolerance of any offenses against our people. This is the expectations that you would have for any non-residents driving thru, please give the same. Any activity on site is being captured on camera and monitors are required to document via an incident report which is forwarded to proper authorities. Let’s work together to ensure a safe and professional operation for Eel River Bar.

I want to thank all of you who are being respectful, courteous and friendly! We’re all struggling in different ways, your positivity is very much appreciated, more than you know.

Thanking you for your collaboration,

Chief Sacha
