Notice from Chief Sacha regarding checkpoint updates.

April 19, 2020

Dear Ugpi’ganjig community members;

We hope you’ve all had a chance to adjust to the access control measures that we have put I place. In the coming week, you will see some changes in our access control points. Our employees have taken several notes and in collaboration with chief and council we will be implementing these changes in order to facilitate flow thru traffic and tighten access control to our community. The important changes to note will be the closure of access to beach road and dam road where they intersect route 134 at the south end of the community (near the green bridge). This may cause a slight inconvenience to residents who normally use that area to exit the community, however beach road and dam road at the north end (near Simonson’s grocery) will be open for use for community residents. We will also be removing our checkpoint on the 134 near the SPCA and relocating to Miller Road.

All rules remain the same. No access to any non-residents for visitation. These measures were put in place to aid in flattening the curve and preventing the spread of COVID 19. Please remember to SLOW DOWN, and STOP until you get a signal to drive thru, and most importantly DO NOT get out of your vehicle! Please be advised that our check points are legal, any incidents of non-compliance are being reported and being enforced by our regional RCMP.

Thanking you for being respectful, courteous and friendly! Your positivity is very much appreciated, and certainly helps during this challenging time.
Sincerely,

Chief Sacha
