PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dear Ugpi’ganjig Community,

Last night, February 27d, 2026 our Peacekeepers answered to a call at a residence on Miller Road that quickly needed RCMP attention. This incident involved a non-member with a firearm.

Today, February 3d, 2026 Chief & Council held an Emergency Duly Convened meeting to remove and ban James Peter Leclair-Russell from all lands and community assets.

Chief and Council want to thank the efforts of our Peacekeepers on last nights incidents, they acted promptly and diligently. We thank the community and general public for their cooperation. Investigation is still on going. Please be respectful on the situation.
