Ugpi‘ganjig Community Garden in partnership with Digital Mi’kmaq

ABOUT DIGITAL MI’KMAQ COMMUNITY GARDEN PROJECT:

To increase the quality and accessibility of healthy, locally-grown foods, the Community Garden Project
works toward supporting the expansion of self-sovereignty through the creation of jobs, educational
programming and opportunities for community members to actively engage in all aspects of the food
system.

WHY?
Digital Mi’kmaq’s Community Garden project was
created in response to an increase of food insecurity
within Indigenous Communities in Atlantic Canada.

WHERE?
In partnership with Digital Mi’kmaq, Eel River Bar First
Nation has been identified as one of the communities to
participate in the Community Garden Project.

WHAT WILL IT PROVIDE?
• Build a community-based greenhouse
• Build a community-based food centre
• Build a community garden
• Creation of both part-time and full-time
community-based jobs
