Hours of Work: 35 Hrs/week

Job Summary:

Eel River Bar First Nation (ERBFN) is seeking a strategic and dynamic Band Manager to oversee the Nation’s operations and drive long-term success. Reporting directly to Chief and Council, the Band Manager will lead multiple departments to ensure the delivery of high-quality programs and services that align with ERBFN’s vision, values, and strategic priorities. This role is pivotal in strengthening governance, enhancing community well-being, and fostering operational excellence. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with experience in Indigenous governance, financial oversight, program management, and interdepartmental collaboration.

Job Description: Adhering to the ERBFN Conditions of Employment Policies and maintaining Confidentiality at all times, the Band Manager responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Governance

  • Develop and implement long-term strategic plans in collaboration with Chief and Council.
  • Ensure alignment between departmental goals and the ERBFN’s overall vision and priorities.
  • Act as a key advisor to Chief and Council, providing data-driven recommendations for decision-making.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and innovation within ERBFN operations.

Operational & Program Oversight

  • Lead and oversee multiple departments, including Education, Health, Housing, Economic Development, Child & Family Services, and more.
  • Streamline processes to improve service delivery and program effectiveness.
  • Ensure interdepartmental collaboration and problem-solving to address community needs.
  • Manage community-wide initiatives and oversee major infrastructure and development projects.

Human Resources & Workforce Development

  • Work closely with the Director of Human Resources to enhance staff recruitment, training, and retention strategies.
  • Promote a positive and culturally respectful workplace environment.
  • Develop succession planning and capacity-building initiatives for staff and leadership.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Collaborate with the Directors to develop and monitor budgets.
  • Ensure financial accountability and resource allocation aligns with ERBFN’s priorities.
  • Identify new funding opportunities and partnerships to enhance financial sustainability.
  • Provide transparent financial reporting to Chief and Council.

Community Engagement & Advocacy

  • Advocate for ERBFN’s interests with government agencies, non-profits, and stakeholders.

Crisis & Risk Management

  • Lead crisis management efforts, coordinating interdepartmental and external responses as needed.
  • Identify operational risks and implement strategies to minimize impact on the Nation.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in a senior leadership role.
  • 2+ years of experience within an Indigenous organization is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of First Nations governance, community development, and funding agreements.
  • Proven ability to manage diverse teams, build relationships, and foster collaboration.
  • Experience with financial management, strategic planning, and policy development.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
